Viv the vole loved to drive her van. It was a velvet van with five very violet stripes.
"Viv!" called her friend Dave the dove. "I love your vivid van!"
Viv gave Dave a high-five. "Thank you! I've been saving it for a special adventure."
Viv invited Dave to visit the valley. They packed vests in case of cold weather and vegetables for lunch.
"I've never driven to the valley before," said Viv as she revved the engine.
The van moved over hills and through villages. They saw cows giving milk and leaves waving in the breeze.
"Look!" Dave pointed. "A beaver building a cave!"
Viv swerved to avoid a volleyball that rolled into the road. The van veered left!
"Whoa!" Dave gripped his seat. "That was a brave move!"
Just as they reached the valley, the van made a very strange noise.
VROOM! VROOM! VRIIIIIP!
"What's that?" Dave asked.
Viv looked worried. "I have no idea!"
Suddenly, the van's roof opened like a wave! The velvet seats turned into diving boards!
"My van is alive!" Viv gasped.
The van drove itself to a river and parked. Then it vibrated until steps appeared on its side.
"I think your van wants us to dive into the river," Dave said.
Viv was nervous but brave. She climbed the steps and jumped! Dave followed her.
SPLASH!
The water was perfect—not too cold, not too warm.
"My van isn't just a van," Viv laughed. "It's a swimming pool on wheels!"
And they spent the day diving and swimming in the most valuable van ever.
